Partnering Dance and Education Book (Copyright 1999, 272 pages) $32.95 Dance education is at a critical juncture in the United States. Even though it has gained wide acceptance as a valuable educational discipline and has achieved such victories as inclusion in the National Education Goals, its future remains uncertain. Educational reform, budget cuts, and conflicting views on the relevance of arts education all bring into question how — and if — dance should be taught in our schools. In Partnering Dance and Education, Dr. Judith Lynne Hanna presents a compelling argument for making dance central to every student’s education. She examines current trends and issues in education to show how dance can be successfully justified and taught in today’s changing educational environment. Rich with examples from arts magnet schools, arts organization offerings, dance company programs, public school instruction, and programs for at-risk youth, the book addresses difficult questions, including: Is dance education in and of itself worthwhile? What are the ways of providing dance education? Who should teach dance in public schools? Why and how should we connect dance to other bodies of knowledge? What can be learned in, about, and through dance? Does dance education benefit at-risk youth? Do we teach gender roles in dance education? What are the advantages and problems with cultural diversity in dance education? Divided into two parts, Partnering Dance and Education is full of information and insights that readers will find both illuminating and thought provoking. Part I recognizes dance as a discipline in its own right with a distinct body of knowledge. Chapters discuss the benefits and methods of providing dance education, ways dance education can develop within the education reform movement, and who should teach dance. Part II addresses how dance education, while meaningful in itself, has broader relevance. Chapters discuss how dance can be used to teach academic and workplace skills, help at-risk youth, promote national identity while preserving cultural diversity, and help people cope with stress. It explains how children’s dance during free play can be used as a teaching tool, and it looks at the role of dance in teaching students about gender. A special appendix poses challenging discussion questions for students and teachers. An extensive dance resources appendix includes suggested readings, as well as the addresses and phone numbers of leading dance organizations, programs, and schools. Outsourcing Tasks - Getting Things Done For Businesses
The concept of outsourcing tasks and letting other people do stuff you cannot do is what you need in order to grow your business. You need to know where your business is going, as well as identifying tasks that you cannot do on your own and outsource that first. Tim Ferriss, author from the 4-Hour Work Week, recently posted on his blog about his new book that's released. He ground though writing this brand new book and the man hates writing.
I am thinking, he could have used a ghost writer, that is the main thing he had to accomplish. He outsourced anything else. So sometimes you just have to perform the things you do not wish to accomplish to begin with and you should be aware of that. Outsource what you cannot do, like you can outsource internet marketing tasks you need in order to achieve that lifestyle as described in four hour work week.
You must understand that you need two work in task versus the on task. A book that is released this year is called It’s Not About the Product, a brand new book I am working on. This book includes the concept of working for your SEO services business in a smarter way. It is indeed better that you work on developing your business with the help of other skilled individuals instead of doing all of these important tasks in your business alone.
They do a trade, they be a plumber and they do an apprenticeship, created it and want to be a plumber. But to grow your organization standing on the equipment will not increase your business. You need to work on your organization, not in it, not doing the particular thing that the customers are about.
What you want to do is to into outsourcing tasks as soon as possible. You want to hire an apprentice underneath you to do the plumbing. You want to hire the SEO company customer service team, you want to hire the people who deliver what you do. If you’re in information marketing, that’s obviously impossible because you are what you deliver, but in everything else you want to outsource that.
In my telecommunications company, my real world business, I don’t install phone systems, never have, have no idea how to. I have a team who do that. I have a team of sales people. I work on the business rather than in it. Even if you’re running an e book selling website, it’s still a business and treat it like a business. You want to think about what in tasks there are and what on tasks. The marketing of your business is the on task. That’s the thing you really want to focus on, not in your business.
If you’re doing AdWords management and outsourcing tasks for clients, you don’t wish to be doing the AdWords management yourself. You hopefully desire to train someone that can do just that. This leaves you to concentrate and grow the business enterprise, get the clients, push the sales, and get lots more people in to increase your profits.

Excerpt: Reading School is a grammar school in the town of Reading, Berkshire, England. It is a single-sex boys' school, which selects incoming students on the basis of examined ability, usually at age 11, with a few entrants at age 13 and 16. It is state-funded, so there are no fees for day pupils, and boarders only pay for food and lodgings, not schooling. The current headmaster, since Autumn 2006, is John Weeds, replacing Patricia Daniels, who was acting headteacher for one year, and also the first female headteacher in the 882-year history of the school. Reading is a foundation school, and an OFSTED report concluded that "examination results place the school in the top five per cent nationally", "Pupils' attitudes to learning are outstanding" and "The school goes to exceptional lengths to broaden and enrich the education of all pupils". The 2005 Key Stage 3 results were both the best in the country for value-added and for the average points score of each student. In the 2004 school league tables for England (including fee-paying schools), it came eighth for GCSE-level results (average 602.5 points), 106th for A-level results (average 409.3 points) and 170th for value-added between ages 11 and 16 (score of 1037.7 compared with a baseline of 1000). It has recently become a DFES specialist school for the Humanities, specialising in English, Geography and Classics the first school to specialise in Classics despite entry being selected by Mathematics and verbal and non-verbal logic ability. The School prides itself on offering A-Level Latin to any student who has an interest in studying the subject. The School will also offer Ancient Greek if numbers permit. In 2005 the school was awarded the highly prestigious Sportsmark gold award for a four-year per... More: |

1229 Establishments: University of Toulouse, Ballybeg Priory, Tapa Gaccha, Michelham Priory $14.14 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Université de Toulouse is a consortium of French universities, grandes écoles and other institutions of higher education and research, named after one of the earliest universities established in Europe in 1229, and including the successor universities to that earlier university. This article describes the institutions that have been called the "Université de Toulouse". The formation of the University of Toulouse was imposed on Count Raymond VII as a part of the Treaty of Paris in 1229 ending the crusade against the Albigensians. As he was suspected of sympathizing with the heretics, Raymond VII had to finance the teaching of theology. Bishop Foulques de Toulouse was among the founders of the University. Among its first lecturers were: Jean de Garlande, Roland of Cremona. Other faculties (law, medicine) were added later. Initially, the University was located in the center of the city, together with the ancestors of student residences, the colleges. In 1969, the University of Toulouse split into three separate universities and numerous specialised institutions of higher education. The present-day Université de Toulouse (University of Toulouse) was founded on 27 March 2007. With more than 120,000 students, Toulouse is the second-largest university city in France (after Paris). It is a Research and Higher Education Cluster consisting of: Université Toulouse 1 Capitole Main entrance, ENAC Toulouse Toulouse Business School The Doctoral Schools are all members of the Research and Doctoral Department of the Université de Toulouse : 15 Doctoral Schools representing a research potential of 4200 Scientists including 2400 Senior Scientists; 4200 PhD students and 800 Doctorate diplomas awarded per year.
