It Is The Holiday Season - How About Throwing A Party?
Valuable time with loved ones, fine food, meeting new friends, and sweet memories of hosting a fun holiday party can bring you all these things. Sadly arranging any type of party can be genuinely stressful. So I have put together some helpful hints to lower that stress level and ensure your party goes with a bang.
Planning and Invitations
Attention to detail is vital when wording your invitations; remember to include where and when it is and if you want guests to bring food or drink, then you need to let them know in advance.
If you are going to put on things to do such as a karaoke or games, think about what your family and friends will enjoy otherwise the activity will fall flat. Make some name labels with a bright and fun design, a good talking point as well as helpful for those people who may not know everyone.
Decorations and Music
Decorations are always important, but never more important than for events held around Xmas. Make a feature of your tree with sparkling baubles, hang some mistletoe, generally make your property look as festive as possible. Consider buying some candles to give a warm atmosphere; you can even buy candles that have xmas scents. Choosing music is very important to add fun and possibly some singing and dancing to your event.
Buying in Food and Drink
In general, prepare more food than is required for your guests. Of course throwing out food feels wasteful, but nobody wants to run out of food with a houseful of hungry friends. Find out what your friends like to eat and check whether they have any allergies, make sure there is vegetarian choices.
Drinks options should be varied; ask people to bring something with them and make sure you have wine, spirits, tea and coffee as well as soft drinks for younger visitors or those that are driving.
Routine hints for hosting a good party
As the host, try your best to be around and available for all your friends. Go round the house making sure everyone has what they need, include shy guests in conversation or ask a more outgoing guest to take them under their wing.
Don't leave dirty dishes and bottles lying around, as the party goes on, pick up trash and take empty plates away. This cuts down on the amount of tidying at the end of the party, and keeps the atmosphere agreeable for late guests and everyone else.
Let smokers know where they can have a smoke, be it on a balcony, a patio, in the backyard, or on the front lawn.
Gifts
If there is a gift giving session, make sure to set a maximum price allowance for the gifts in advance. An entertaining way to spice up a gift exchange is to have Secret Santa, with the names either picked in advance or drawn at the party.
